FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
Q: Do I need Lotto Sorcerer in order to user Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice?
A: No, Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice is a standalone program.
Q: Can I have Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice and Lotto Sorcerer on the same computer?
A: Yes, they will not interfere with each other in any way. You can even run both of them at the same time with no problems.
Q: What types of lotteries can Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice work with?
A: Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice can work with most standard lottos and lottos with one bonus ball.
Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice does not handle "pick-type" lotteries, lotteries which draw extra numbers or keno-type lotteries. For those types of lotteries, we recommend Lotto Sorcerer.
Q: How many lotteries can I setup in Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice?
A: You can setup up to 32 built-in lotteries in Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice. There is no limit to the number of custom lotteries.
Q: What is the difference between at "built-in" lottery and a "custom" lottery?
A: A "built-in" is already setup within Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice. All you have to do is select it in the Lottery Setup Wizard. A built-in lottery will also have prior drawings included with Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice, and almost all of the built-in lotteries can be updated with our optional Lottery Data Subscription Service. A custom lottery can also be setup with the Lottery Setup Wizard, but you must enter the parameters of the lottery (how many balls are drawn, the pool size, days drawn, etc.) A custom lottery cannot be updated with the Lottery Data Subscription Service; you must update it by either typing in the past drawings or import past lottery data. As for generating suggestions, Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice treats both custom and built-in lotteries as the same.
Q: The lottery I play has drawings twice a day. Should I track these together, or treat them as separate lotteries?
A: Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice only handles lotteries that draw once per day. You would need to setup each lottery as a separate lottery.
Q: Is there any way to import a list of past numbers instead of typing it in?
A: Yes, Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice can import from delimited text files. Many lotteries offer free downloads of past lottery drawings which you can import into Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice (although some may require a little "massaging" of the data to make it importable into our program). You can also update most of the built-in lotteries automatically using our optional Lottery Subscription Service (use menu item "Lottery Data > Lottery Data Subscription > Subscription Setup Wizard").
Q: My lottery changed its parameters: it used to have a pool of 48 numbers, and now it has changed to 49. What should I do?
A: First, you need to edit the lottery's settings by using Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice's menu item "Lottery Structure > Edit Lottery Settings" to reflect the new parameters. Next, because the lottery has changed, you may want to delete the older drawings (that were drawn using the older parameters) by using the Prune Database function (menu item "Lottery Data > Prune Lottery") or by changing the date in the Scope control. This will ensure the statistical integrity of your database.
Q: What is the minimum amount of past drawings Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice needs?
A: This figure varies by the lottery's parameters (lottery type, pool size and numbers played). Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice will advise you if you do not have enough drawings entered. If this happens, you will need to enter more drawings.
Q: How many previous drawings should I put into the database?
A: You should put as many as possible. The more drawings in the database, the better Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice can analyze the drawing history.
Q: What are the best choices to make in the Parameters section of Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice?
A: We recommend that you experiment to see what works best for you. Try the different settings, and generate the maximum number of suggestions for each different setting combination. Of course, you do not actually have to play (bet) these numbers... that would be expensive; just print out or save the suggestions. Make a note as to which strategy (setting combination) that you chose for that particular set of suggestions. When the drawing occurs, check to see which set of suggestions did the best. This is the strategy to use.
Q: What is the purpose of the "Analysis Strength" slider on the Parameters tab?
A: This allows you to set the size of the past drawing history to use for the analysis. A setting of 10% limits the analysis to the most recent 10% of the drawing history; a setting of 100% analyzes the entire drawing history.
Q: How long are the suggestions from Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice good for?
Until the next drawing. After that, the statistics change. Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice should only be run with the latest drawing in its database. So it is imperative you keep its database (of prior drawings) up-to-date.
Q: I don't have a credit card or checking account. How can I order Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice?
A: We accept payment from Western Union and MoneyGram International. Many customers send us cash (in U.S. Dollars or Euros). You can find these deals on the Purchase page.
Q: I got a new computer. How do I get my registered version up and running?
A: First, download and install the current Evaluation Version from http://www.satoripublishing.com/LSA/download.html. When you install this, it will generate a new serial number. You will need this serial number in order to generate a replacement registration code for yourself (because the registration code is based on the serial number). You can then generate a replacement registration code by using Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice's menu item "File > Registration > Replace Registration Code".
Q: I lost my registration codes! What do I do?
A: It is important to secure serial numbers and registration codes you receive from us, because you will need this information when you will need a replacement registration code. But if you need your registration information, email us at least your name. If you are emailing from a different email account from which you originally registered, it will help if you also supply your address or other identifying information, or if you ordered under a different name (for example, a company name or spouse's name).
Q: Where is my software I ordered? I got an email from you, with my registration code, but I never received any CD!
A: As mentioned in the email, manual, and on this website, we do not ship software... this is why you were not charged for shipping, and this is what keeps our costs (and your prices) down. Just enter your name and registration codes in the registration screen of the program, and your evaluation version is transformed into the full registered version. This practice is very common in the shareware industry.
Q: Where is my registration codes? I never received them!
A: You (or your Internet Service Provider [ISP]) probably have a spam filter, blocking our email. We think the word "Lotto" in our email that we sent to you may be falsely flagging our email as "spam", or junk email. To prevent this, add "firstname.lastname@example.org" to your white list (list of approved senders).
If you do not receive your registration codes within 24 hours of purchase, please email us (at email@example.com). Please provide an alternate method of contact (other than your email address), such as phone or fax. We will attempt to email your codes again, plus we will print out the codes and mail it to you via U.S. Mail. If you provide a telephone number, we will call you to rectify the situation. In the meantime, please check your Junk Mail folder, in the event that your spam filter thought that our email was spam.
Q: I subscribed to the Lottery Data Subscription Service. Where are my registration codes?
A: As mentioned in the sign-up page of the Lottery Data Subscription Service, the subscription service is an optional and separate part of Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice. Registration is separate.
Q: My registration codes don't work!
A: Please use our Registration Troubleshooter.
Q: What are the Evaluation Version limitations? A: Here are the two limitations to the Evaluation Version:
The Registered Version does not have these limitations.
Q: If I purchase Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice, can I upgrade to Lotto Sorcerer for a discount?
- The Evaluation Version is limited to 12 uses.
- The Evaluation Versions limits the Analysis Strength to 10%.
A: Yes, just click here for discount information.
Q: Do I need to purchase a lottery data subscription to use Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice?
A: No, it is entirely optional. But, if your lottery is supported through this service, you may find it a fantastic convenience.
Q: I purchased the registration code to Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice, but Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice says that I am not a subscriber to the Lottery Data Subscription Service.
A: The Lottery Data Subscription Service is not included with the purchase of the registration codes.
Q: How do I cancel my Lottery Data Subscription?
A: The subscriptions are non-recurring, so they will be automatically cancelled at the end of the subscription term.
Q: Why do you no longer accept PayPal as a payment processor?
A: Because of their abysmal reliability, disreputable actions and questionable practices. That is probably why they have an average rating of only 1.05 stars (out of five) from 1,500+ negative reviews on the Better Business Bureau website.
Q: Will Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice work with macOS 10.15 ("Catalina") or macOS 11.0 ("Big Sur")?
A: We cannot verify that Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice will work with macOS 10.15 ("Catalina") or macOS 11 ("Big Sur"). We will no longer enable Apple by purchasing hardware to test our software on their platform. Apple is notorious for abandoning support for software that works fine on older systems (in an apparently pernicious ploy to "encourage" users to purchase their latest hardware).
If you are using macOS 10.15 or macOS 11 and are interested in Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice, we encourage you to thoroughly and exhaustively test the evaluation version before purchasing. If the evaluation version works, so will the registered version.
Q: Is the source code for Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice available?
A: We offer exclusive royalty-free licensing of the source code of current version of Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice for a one-time payment of US$10000, or non-exclusive royalty-free licensing for US$5000. We also offer all soft assets of Lotto Sorcerer and Lotto Sorcerer's Apprentice (source code; pertinent webpages; copyrights and trademarks; lottery databases from US Datamines) for US$100000. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information, caveats, conditions and terms.
