Import Delimited Text File
This tutorial shows how to import a lottery dataset received from any compatible text file.
Use Lotto Sorcerer's Import Delimited Text File function by choosing menu item "Lottery Data > Import Lottery Data > Import Delimited Text File".
The Import Delimited Text File window opens. Click the "Select Import File" to get a preview of the contents of that file (in the "Actual Input Format" box).
Next, by using the controls in the window, choose the appropriate settings for the text file from which you are planning to import, so that the "Actual Input Format" box matches the "Expected Input Format" box. When all is correct, click the "Import" button.
Notes
Lotto Sorcerer's importers require that the input data be in the form of a numerical date, followed by delimited lottery drawing numbers. Extraneous fields are not allowed (such as the drawing number, jackpot, etc.). If your input file does have extra fields, you may be able to remove them by using the Field Stripper utility (Lotto Sorcerer menu item "Lottery Data > Import Lottery Data > Import File Utilities > Field Stripper").
If your input file contains non-numerical dates, you will need to use a text editor* to modify those dates into numerical dates. For example, changing the non-numerical date "October 2, 1999" into a numerical date ("10/2/1999") would consist of:
- Finding all occurrences of "October [and a trailing space]" and replacing them with "10/".
- Finding all occurrences of ", [and a trailing space]" and replacing them with "/".
